Andrew Lee

Andrew Lee directs standards and policy at the International Living Future Institute. In this role, he provides key thought leadership on how buildings will catalyze a shift towards a clean and regenerative energy future and serve as the most effective mechanism for climate action. Andy brings deep technical knowledge and a systems thinking approach to his work at the Institute, with over 15 years of experience in advanced building design and carbon emissions reduction policy. His previous work involved multi-stakeholder engagement to accomplish ambitious goals, most recently collaborating with over a dozen U.S. city governments to develop energy policy roadmaps to achieve a zero net carbon building sector. Prior to that, he held a senior position as a technical consultant, working on some of the world’s most ambitious sustainability projects; including development of precedent-setting net zero energy and water embassies for the U.S. State Department and zero energy prototypes for Fortune 500 companies such as PNC Bank. Andy’s current work centers on empowering organizational leaders to take bold action, facilitating workshops for ground-breaking initiatives such as the World Green Building Council’s Advancing Net Zero Framework and providing technical advisory to the City of Seattle’s Living Building Pilot Program. Andy holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master of Building Science from the University of Southern California. A resident of Seattle and committed volunteer, he has chaired the Seattle Collaborative for Cascadia Green Building Council and speaks frequently to building industry groups on regional energy and water issues.
