Walter Lourie

Walter Lourie is the head of sustainability for Austria based mafi Naturholzboden. He often gives GBCI approved lectures about healthy wood products to architects and designers. These talks have been developed through years of research and study in addition to his twenty plus years of experience as a wood floor mechanic in New England, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Having learned valuable lessons through this craft he also gained experience by his role as technical sales manager with two different European manufacturers. Having explored, studied and used products from dozens of flooring and flooring products manufacturers worldwide for two decades, he has solidified an understanding of those products in real time and with a critical eye. Walter's constant drive is to find the most healthy flooring products to physically work with and to teach that to his fellow craftsmen. Prior to this he was building 5-star homes in Alaska and was a property claims insurance adjuster in Anchorage after serving in the United States Air Force. At rest he is most often found in the woods enjoying his hobbies as a novice naturalist and bird watcher, in his Maryland bio-regenerative no-dig garden, or strolling a pasture-based multi-species farm contemplating the art of soil carbon storage.
