The International Living Future Institute (ILFI) today kicked off the 2019 Living Future unConference, a sold-out gathering of 1,300+ experts in green building, placemaking and regenerative design who are celebrating the “Collaboration and Abundance” of a movement that is fast gaining momentum. Bill McKibben will provide the opening night keynote tomorrow evening, followed by keynote addresses from Mustafa Santiago Ali during Thursday’s Big Bang Dinner and Former President of Ireland Mary Robinson on Friday morning.

“Our keynote speakers connect our movement to the broader community,” said Amanda Sturgeon, CEO of ILFI. “Their voices will help frame a dynamic conversation about how we utilize a collaborative spirit and abundance mindset to maintain momentum in an era of unprecedented climate challenge.”

The Living Building Challenge Scales

With over 100 certified and nearly 550 registered projects, the Institute has made great progress in the past year. Conference attendees will hear 100+ speakers–each representing various disciplines within the regenerative design community–share their stories of these projects and how they increase collaboration and abundance within the green building community.

Following with a keynote address Thursday morning, CEO Amanda Sturgeon will release the next iteration of the Living Building Challenge and an exciting new certification pathway. “While we’ve been successful in showing that the impossible is possible, our progress needs to accelerate, both in the mainstream green building market and in stretching that market towards regenerative design and systems-thinking,” said Sturgeon. “Over the next few days, our conference attendees will witness how the Institute is substantially scaling our programs to make this a reality.” A press release will be issued Thursday morning with more details on the announcements.

The Living Future unConference, which runs April 30-May 3 in Seattle, features a far-reaching schedule of workshops, networking opportunities and celebration of Collaboration + Abundance in regenerative design. Find out more online and follow along with #LF19.
