ILFI is pleased to announce that Megan Ritchie Saffitz has moved into the role of Vice President of Operations + Certification at the organization. Megan began her tenure at ILFI in 2017 as Certification Director. We feel fortunate to have Megan on staff, lending her many strengths to help ILFI run smoothly.

“I am very excited to take on this new position and role at ILFI,” says Megan.  “I am passionate about the Institute’s programs and mission, and am proud of the work we’ve done so far, like implementing an online application management system—known now as Portal—for Living Building Challenge and Zero Energy certifications, doubling the Institute’s number of certified projects.”

Megan also helped to launch the Institute’s new Zero Carbon certification program, under which nearly 3 million square feet of commercial office space was registered by Fortune 500 companies in the first 6 months. She’s also integrated the Living Product Challenge, Living Community Challenge, and Just standards into Portal, transitioned the Institute from Gmail to a customer service platform, implemented both an internal and external self-help knowledge base, and developed a Auditor Quality Assurance protocol.

Megan currently oversees three Teams—Certification, Operations, and Technology—and most recently helped to restructure the Institute to allow for increased growth and impact. “For 2019, I am looking forward to helping the Institute better achieve its mission, by supporting our team in reaching their goals and communicating their successes,” she said. “We have more exciting systems to launch this year, including comprehensive project management protocols and software that will provide real-time impact tracking and assessment.” Stay tuned on how the initiatives that Megan is leading will help ILFI achieve a Living Future—big things are to come in 2019!

When Megan’s not hard at work with ILFI, she might be leading her Girl Scout Troop of nine 3rd Graders, pedaling on her Peloton, or cuddling two the world’s most peculiar Devon Rexes.  Her Capitol Hill townhouse is registered (and in its 12-month performance period!) for Zero Carbon.

Thanks for all you do, Megan!
