This year, ILFI is proud to offer five exceptional tours throughout the Portland Metro Area. Ranging from a luxurious day-long outing in the Willamette Valley wine country to an in-depth look at Portland’s unique ADU scene, these activities will not disappoint.

Urban CoHousing

As an antidote to social isolation, cohousing provides an alternative solution for individuals, families, and seniors who are seeking greater sustainability, community, and purposeful living.

Using two recently completed urban cohousing communities as case studies (being onsite and touring one), the audience will gain an understanding of how the intentional actions of individuals acting in consensus of the group successfully created a resilient community and new home.

Portland Tiny House and ADU Tour

TIMING: Wed, May 2, 2018 (1:30pm-4:30pm)

Are you curious about the burgeoning tiny home movement? Well, you’re in luck because Portland is fast becoming a hotbed of the design and construction of these unique dwellings! This walking tour kicks off at Caravan, a tiny home hotel in NE Portland, and then meanders through the neighborhood, taking in three stunning ADUs along the way. The tour leader, Kol Peterson, is a local and national ADU expert and is excited to give you the scoop on the ADU movement. Kol runs a widely acclaimed tour year round – so you will be in good hands.

Sustainable Wineries

TIMING: Wednesday, May 2, 2018 (9:00am-4:30pm)

Join us as we wend through Oregon’s bucolic wine country! This tour incorporates stops at Anne Amie Vineyards and Stoller Family Estates for wine tastings and a look at their unique operations, including the first LEED Gold Winemaking facility in the world.Anne Amie and Stoller demonstrate a deep commitment to sustainability and craft, winning accolades for both the quality of their wines as well as their green initiatives. You will see firsthand how these businesses worked to achieve Salmon Safe, LEED gold, and LIVE Viticulture certifications, all while producing world-class wines! Lloyd EcoDistrict tour

This tour will showcase the world’s first official EcoDistrict and one of Portland’s neighborhoods poised for the most growth in the coming decades. The Lloyd EcoDistrict reflects an increasing consciousness in our cities and communities that environmental performance improvements are only successful if they are done in a way that equitably distributes their benefits and burdens.
